ERC plans for 2023: Nearly €2.2b in grants for Europe’s excellent researchers

The ERC has announced its Work Programme for 2023 with a total budget of around €2.2 billion for grants. This amount will support more than a thousand top researchers across Europe. Established by the ERC Scientific Council, the Work Programme with a tentative calendar of grant competitions for the coming year has been adopted today by the European Commission.

How and when to apply for ERC grants

The Work Programme published today includes a tentative calendar of grant competitions.

  • Starting Grant: call is planned to open on 12 July 2022 and to close on 25 October 2022
  • Synergy Grant:  call is planned to open on 13 July 2022 and to close on 8 November 2022
  • Consolidator Grant: call is planned to open on 28 September 2022 and to close on 2 February 2023
  • Advanced Grant: call is planned to open on 8 December 2022 and to close on 23 May 2023
